Workshop to focus on managing woodlands

Owners of large or small woodlands will learn how to manage their woods for enjoyment, profit, conservation and wildlife at a workshop planned here on Oct. 25.
The N.C. Tree Farm Program ó in conjunction with N.C. Cooperative Extension, Division of Forest Resources, Wildlife Resource Management, and Central Land Trust of North Carolina ó are offering a hands-on educational event for landowners.
The morning session will focus on conservation options for working forests, forest management program options and current timber market conditions.
In the afternoon, participants will tour the Paul Foster Tree Farm, see an active logging operation, see a forest mulching machine performing silvicultural work and learn about Wildlife Habitat Management.
The workshop begins at the Agricultural Center in Salisbury, located at 2727 Old Concord Road.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the session begins at 9:30 a.m. Lunch is provided. The group will carpool to the Paul Foster Tree Farm.
Pre-registration is required by Oct. 17.
