Woman faces multiple drug charges

Following a search warrant, Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies charged a woman with several drug offenses.
Kristy Hiatt, 33, of 5225 Fish Pond Road, is charged with trafficking opium by possession, trafficking opium by sale and possession with intent to sell schedule III controlled substance.
During a search of the home, investigators seized numerous prescription medications, less than a gram of cocaine and paraphernalia. Investigators also seized evidence indicating that some of the prescription medications were obtained through forgery.
Investigators had arrest warrants for Hiatt for the charges stemming from an undercover operation by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and the Kannapolis Police Department. During this operation, Hiatt sold hydrocodone to an undercover detective.
Hiatt was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under $40,000 secured bond. Charges relating to the search warrant are pending completion of the investigation.
