Two charged after officers buy hydrocodone

A man and woman face charges after allegedly selling hydrocodone tablets to an undercover officer.
On Tuesday, investigators with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office arrested Allen Norman Basinger and Kelli Calder Flake after an undercover officer purchased 40 hydrocodone tablets from them in a parking lot at 3410 S. Main St.
Immediately after the undercover purchase, officers approached the pair and arrested them. Officers found an additional 80 hydrocodone tablets in Flakes possession.
Flake, 38, of 640 Trexler Road, was charged with trafficking opium by possession, trafficking opium by transportation, trafficking opium by sale, possession with intent to sell schedule III controlled substance and conspiring to traffick opium.
Basinger, 49, who lists his address as the streets of Salisbury, was charged with trafficking opium by possession, trafficking opium by sale, possession with intent to sell schedule III controlled substance and conspiring to traffick opium.
Basinger and Flake were both placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under $100,000 secured bond, pending a first appearance in court on Wednesday.
