Three escaped inmates captured in Elizabeth City

ELIZABETH CITY – All three inmates who escaped from Morrison Correctional Institution have been returned to custody.
Inmate Richard Ames, 19 was arrested by Elizabeth City police officers around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Shortly before midnight Thursday, Department of Correction officers located the stolen white semi cab parked in Elizabeth City and found inmates Joseph Caulder, 20, and William Bullard, 19, inside. They were arrested without incident.
All three inmates will face felony escape charges, plus charges for stealing the truck. There may be additional charges for other crimes they committed while on the run.
Caulder was serving 8-10 months for larceny of firearms and larceny after breaking and entering. He was convicted in Scotland County.
Bullard was serving 6 months for larceny of a motor vehicle and forgery. He was convicted in Robeson County.
He is not William Shawn Bullard, 33, of Roberts Drive in Kannapolis.
Ames was serving 8-10 months for larceny from person. He was convicted in Currituck County.
