CONCORD ó Damage from Tuesday’s storm stretched from McGill Avenue through downtown to the South Union Area, according to a press release from the city of Concord.
Damage consisted of trees down, power outages and urban flooding. A house on Virginia was heavily damaged when a tree fell on it and several other homes had minor damage. Spring Street was flooded at Marsh Avenue, Franklin Avenue and in front of Coltrane Web School, highway 29-A was flooded beneath the railroad crossing due to the volume of rain and debris in storm drains. The crossing arms for Southern Railway at McGill Avenue were wrapped around their poles. A full report will be forwarded to the National Weather Service when complete.
Concord had approximately 1,500 customers without power at the height of the storm. The storm appeared to focus most directly right through the middle of the city.
Concord had three main breakers locked out and numerous isolated outages.
The main cause of power outages was due to lightning and wind blowing trees and limbs into power lines.
Most restoration was complete by 11 p.m. and all power was restored by 2:30 a.m.
Crews will be working today to clear up areas that received a quick fix last night.
