Smart Start board completes training
The board of Smart Start Rowan completed a day of training Friday, designed and led by three executive directors, both past and present.
The following 21 people participated in the training to prepare for the coming year of service: Shirley Ritchie, Dr. Martha West, Leda Belk, Dr. Toi Degree, Darlene Boling, Rebecca Jones, Dr. Lyn Boulter, Nancy Brandt, Joy Miller, Jimmy Greene, Cathy Eller, Nancy Bilson, Diane Fleming, Barbara Slingerland, Carol Ann Houpe, Sharon Owen, Donna Hogue and Tracy Webb-Goodman.
Current Executive Director John Gerstenmier and former directors Rosie Allen and Karen Campbell led the training.
These newly trained individuals will join the 31-member board of Smart Start Rowan at its first meeting of the new fiscal year on Aug. 25.
Smart Start Rowan strives to ensure high quality, affordable and available child care, health and family support services for all our Rowan County families with children from birth to 5.
