Authorities charged an East Spencer man Thursday with attempted first-degree murder related to a shooting incident Oct. 12 at a home on Hawkinstown Road.
Charged is Kareem Jamal Horton, 26, of 203 Andrews St., East Spencer. He also is accused of discharging a weapon into an occupied property and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Reports at the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office said Horton tried to kill Toroqua Correll Oct. 12 when he shot into a home at 512 Hawkinstown Road occupied by Toroqua, Robert and Dara Correll.
He discharged a .22-caliber rifle, reports said.

Horton’s bond was set at $125,000, and his first appearance in court is Monday.
