Venturing Silver award

Henry Norden Fairley IV, 21, received his Venturing Silver award at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The presentation was made by Glenn Stebe, advisor of Venture Crew 401, sponsored by the church.

Fairley is the son of Norden and Linda Fairley of Salisbury.

President of Venture Crew 401, Fairley is a member of Order of the Arrow — Ltibapishe Iti Hollo vice-chief of communications, assistant scoutmaster of Troop 401, and Central North Carolina Council Venture Officers Association vice-president of finance.

Fairley, a junior at Catawba College, has been listed in the National Dean’s List for his freshman and sophomore years. He is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church Handbell Choir and the Altar Society for the month of August.

Fairley is the first in Crew 401 to earn the Venturing Silver Award.

Eagle Scout

Erik Cox, 17, a senior at West Rowan High School, will receive his Eagle Scout award today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The presentation will be made by Tim Smith, Scoutmaster of Troop 401.

Cox has 23 merit badges and is a patrol leader for Troop 401. The troop is sponsored by Sacred Heart.

Cox is the son of Randy and Mary Cox. After graduation, he plans to attend North Carolina State University.

Eagle Scout

Tim Desch, 17, son of Charles Desch III, and Cynthia Desch, will receive his Eagle Scout award today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Tim Smith, Scoutmaster of Troop 401, will make the presentation.

Smith has earned 21 merit badges and is the librarian for Troop 401, sponsored by Sacred Heart. He is a senior at Salisbury High School and plays varsity soccer.

Eagle Scout

Thomas Thriveni, 18, will receive his Eagle Scout award to day at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The presentation will be made by Tim Smith, Scoutmaster of Troop 401, sponsored by the church.

He has earned 22 merit badges and is patrol leader for Troop 401.

Thriveni is the son of Pivs and Nice Thriveni. A freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he is a Morehead Scholar, a National Merit Scholar, and a Robert C. Byrd Scholar. Thriveni plans to pursue a career in medicine.
