Salisbury’s Office Depot store is not among 112 stores the company plans to close within the next three months, a spokeswoman said today.
The office-products chain announced today that it would shutter the “underperforming” stores, as well as six distribution centers, across North America to lower payroll, operational and capital costs. It will also not renew leases expiring throughout 2009 at 14 other stores.
About 2,200 jobs will be eliminated through the closings.
The only store in North Carolina set to close is in Asheboro, the company spokeswoman said.
The Salisbury store is at 715 E. Innes St., next to Kmart.
