Salisbury man jailed under $75,000 on drug charges

A Salisbury man was jailed Wednesday under a $75,000 bond on drug charges, along with charges of possessing a weapon of mass destruction and assaulting a pregnant woman.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office arrested Christopher Lee Carter, 23, of 5165 Millbridge Road, according to an arrest warrant at the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office. He faces nine charges.
Carter was charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and two counts of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for drugs. Authorities found 59 pounds of marijuana in a truck and another 770 grams, the warrant says.
He also faces two counts of trafficking in marijuana. The charges allege that Carter trafficked in more than 50 pounds but less than 2,000 pounds of marijuana, according to the warrant. Carter was also charged with possessing a weapon of mass destruction ó a .20-gauge double-barrel shotgun, the warrant says.
He was also charged with possessing drug paraphernalia and assaulting a woman who is 23 weeks pregnant, according to the warrant.
