MOORESVILLE ó Cartucciís Fine Italian Cuisine will hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony July 21 at its second restaurant at 134 Mooresville Commons Way at the intersection of Williamson and Brawley roads.
The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. with Mooresville and Chamber of Commerce officials cutting the ribbon. Also attending will be representatives from the NASCAR, NFL and NBA community, as well as Carlette Ewell, the light heavy-weight female boxer, whose next fight will be Sept. 27 in St. Maarten. She is the current UBC Cruiser Weight World Champion.
Live entertainment will be provided by John Dillardís JD3, a band that plays a variety of light, soul and classical jazz.
ëGolden Giverí award
Trinity Oaks Retirement Community is the winner of one of two WSOC-TV ěGolden Giverî Awards.
The award is presented to organizations or individuals who extend extraordinary effort in support of the School Tools program sponsored annually by the Charlotte TV station.
School Tools is a collaborative effort of WSOC-TV and Communities In Schools (CIS), a national dropout prevention program. School Tools volunteers collect and distribute new school supplies to children in need in Rowan, Mecklenburg and 20 other counties surrounding Mecklenburg. Collected supplies remain in the county where they were received.
Trinity Oaks was nominated for the award by Vicky Slusser, executive director of the Communities in Schools program in Rowan County.
ěTrinity Oaks not only donated a cottage for our use for six weeks, but several residents volunteered over 40 hours collecting, sorting and bagging supplies for over 350 children. The residents also took up a collection to purchase additional supplies when they found out we were lacking several items for the childrenís School Tools bags,î Slusser said. ěAnd the staff made sure we were well stocked with punch and fresh-baked cookies for the volunteers each day.î
Carolyn Myers, Ruth Woodburn, Char Molrine, Mike Walsh, Trinity Oaks executive director, and Janine Lawson, wellness coordinator, accepted the award on behalf of Trinity Oaks residents.
LSA again in top 100
Lutheran Services for the Aging (LSA) has once again made the AAHSA-Zieglerń100, a list of the top 100 not-for-profits providing services to seniors.
Published by the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) and Ziegler Capital Markets Group each year, the list identifies the largest providers of not-for-profit aging services in the United States.
Ranked 69th with a total of 1,034 senior living units, LSA is also ranked 35th in nursing care beds, 74th in assisted living beds and 89th in independent living units. The Salisbury-based healthcare organization provides services in Rowan, Catawba, Stanly, Forsyth and Buncombe counties.

Bookkeeping service
Jennifer Bollinger recently opened JLB Bookkeeping Services in China Grove specializing in accounting and bookkeeping services to small and medium-sized companies.
The primary goal, according to Bollinger, is to help both business owners and individuals evaluate and improve their overall financial standing.
She says statistics show that 50 percent of new businesses fail within their first five years of operations as a result of poor record keeping and inadequate financial controls.

Genesis service pins
Seven staff members were honored with service pins at the July general staff meeting of Mooresville Center/Genesis Health Care.
They are Renee Wilson and Maxine Pearson, 15 years; Jill Higginbotham, 10 years; Barbara Crisco, three years; Yolanda Westmoreland, Charlotte Holland and Lataka Rhames, one year.
Professional engineer
Misty Lippard is now a registered professional engineer in North Carolina.
Lippard has been an engineer-in-training with Alley, Williams, Carmer & King Inc. Engineersí Kannapolis office since 2003. She has a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Clemson University.
Also, Matt Cunningham, a professional land surveyor, has joined the officeís surveying department. He has been surveying for more than 21 years and became registered in 2002.
The multi-disciplinary design firm also has offices in Burlington and Sanford, providing architecture, engineering and land surveying services.
