CHINA GROVE ó The Historical Society of South Rowan plans to warm things up a bit Friday night.
The group plans a note burning to celebrate paying off the $90,000 loan to complete the renovation of the historic China Grove Roller Mill.
“We are now out of debt,” said Barbara Doby. “What a wonderful feeling that is.”
The officers and board of directors of the Historical Society have issued a communitywide invitation to come and celebrate.
Light refreshments will be served beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the short note-burning ceremony at 6:30 p.m.
Invitations have been sent out to many of those who contributed during the multi-year renovation and restoration.
“With your help, this project has been successful. Because of you, the mill has been transformed into a wonderful agricultural museum and community center for all to enjoy,” Doby wrote.
