A Poor Man’s Supper from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Rockwell United Methodist Church fellowship building will benefit Rowan Relay for Life.
Sponsored by the Livin’ Good Livengood Relay For Life team, the supper costs $7 for adults, $3 for children 3-12 years old and is free for children under 3 years old.
The menu includes pintos, cooked cabbage, slaw, tomatoes, onions, stewed potatoes, side meat, hot dogs, homemade cornbread muffins, biscuits and desserts, along with tea, coffee and soft drinks. Takeout is available.

– The West Rowan High School Relay For Life team plans a silent auction Feb. 1 during the school’s basketball games. Theme baskets, sports and spa items and restaurant gift certificates are among the goods to be auctioned. The JV game begins at 4 p.m. and winning bids will be announced at halftime of the varsity boys’ game. For more information, call 704-278-9233, extension 202.
– The 6th Annual Sweetheart Ball, sponsored by the Sweet Potato Queens, will be held Feb. 16 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Trolley Barn in Salisbury. Tickets are on sale now. The price of $25 per person includes music by a DJ, drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction. All proceeds to go to Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society. – Y’s Guys Tickled Pink Relay For Life team offers a chance to win a one-year adult membership to the J F Hurley YMCA (a $456 value) in a drawing to take place Feb. 25. Tickets on sale now are $1 each or 6 for $5 and are available at the YMCA on Jake Alexander Boulevard in Salisbury.
– The Racin’ For Relay meeting will be held Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. in the St. John’s Lutheran Church fellowship hall. Start up or join a Relay For Life team or committee to celebrate, remember, and fight back against cancer.
