Red Cross names new board members

The Elizabeth H. Dole Chapter of the American Red Cross board of directors has announced the election of eight new board members.
Elected at the Chapter’s annual public meeting on June 24 were: Pamela B. Abernathy, F&M Bank bank officer; John Basinger, attorney; Dr. Richard L. Brownell, retired president of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College; Stephen Bullock, vice president of sales and marketing, Powercurbers, Inc.; Lexia A. Frasher, chief of health administration service, W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center; Shari Graham, community supporter; David Morris, chief of training, Salisbury Fire Department; and Buddy Poole, general manager, WSAT 1280 Radio.
The new board members will serve a three-year term beginning July 1.
The board said farewell to three board members who have completed their terms: Leigh W. Harlan, board chair since 2005; Darryel Scism of F&M Bank; and Kathryn Lipscomb of the Doran Shelby Pethel Hudson law firm. The board selected Leigh Harlan and Darryel Scism as lifetime emeritus members to recognize their long service to the chapter.
The board also elected new officers: the Rev. William K. Adams, chair; Susan Cloninger, interim vice chair; Marianna Swaim, secretary; and Tom Pickett, treasurer.
