A new, 27-member committee will join the search for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s next president.
Pat Fulcher updated the college’s Board of Trustees on the search Monday.
Chair of the board’s core presidential search committee, Fulcher said the larger committee will include representatives from RCCC’s student government association; faculty and staff; community groups from both Cabarrus and Rowan counties, such as the chambers of commerce, school systems and business groups; and the RCCC board.
The first meeting of the new committee is scheduled for Feb. 19, Fulcher said.
President Dr. Richard Brownell announced last year that he would retire in June 2008. The position is being advertised nationally and generating interest, according to Fulcher.
“Our consulting firm, National Search and Education Associates, is receiving applications and preparing them for evaluation and processing by the search committee,” Fulcher reported.
In December, RCCC launched a Web page to provide information about the presidential search. Located at www.rowancabarrus .edu/presidentsearch/, the site contains information about the qualifications and characteristics the college wants in its next president, application procedures and materials and links to more information about RCCC and the community. A link to the presidential search Web page can be found on the RCCC home page at www.rowancabarrus.edu.
