The North Carolina Quarter Midget Association plans to donate money to the families of two fallen Salisbury firefighters tonight.
A ceremony will take place around 6 p.m. at the quarter-midget speedway in Salisbury.
The association wants to give back to the fire department, said Melissa Osborne, a NCQMA board member.
“If any of our children are hurt on the track, that is who we call to help us,” Osborne said.
Victor Isler, 40, and Justin Monroe, 19, died March 7 as they battled a fire at Salisbury Millwork.
The quarter-midget association began selling raffle tickets in April to donate money to the families of Isler and Monroe.
The group sold $560 worth of tickets, Osborne said. The Bobby Labonte Foundation matched that, so the Salisbury Fire Department can present $1,120 to the families.
Labonte helped open the track in 2004.
Osborne said three raffle winners got right-side tires, donated by Prowler Race Cars, Robbie Stanley Racing and Talon Chassis.
