The draft of the Rowan County Department of Social Services’ 2009-2011 Work First Biennial Plan is now available for public viewing.
The plan ó which describes how the Work First program will operate in Rowan County during the next two years ó is available for review at Rowan Public Library headquarters, Rowan County Manager Bill Cowan’s office, the Department of Social Services main office at 1236 W. Innes St. and on the department’s Web site.
Legislation requires a public comment period for the plan, which is updated every two years to reflect the changing economic and social conditions in the county as well as the changing needs of the family. The goal of Work First is to help parents of children under the age of 18 find and maintain employment.
The public comment period will end Friday at 5 p.m. Anyone who wishes to comment on the plan should contact Sandra Wilkes, Department of Social Services director, by phone at 704-216-8422, by fax at 638-3041 or by email at Sandra.Wilkes@rowancountync.gov.
