Police use Taser on China Grove man

CHINA GROVE ó Police used a Taser on a China Grove teenager who was causing a disturbance at his home Monday afternoon.
Police Chief Hodge Coffield said officers were called to the home at 538 W. Kirk St. around 1 p.m. Monday.
They found Damarjo Jamell Harper, 18, arguing with his brother.
Police were told that Harper had a pistol and had been waving it around.
China Grove Officer L.A. Stutts, backed up by Landis Police Lt. David Earnhardt, responded to the scene and attempted to arrest Harper.
As Earnhardt tried to place Harper in handcuffs, he resisted and a pit bull got between them.
At that point, Stutts shot Harper with the stun gun.
Coffield said that ended the disturbance.
Harper was charged with resisting, delaying and obstructing and officer.
Police didn’t find a handgun.
