The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged a Landis man Tuesday with failing to register as a sex offender.
Reports at the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office said Adam Lee Swaw, 29, of 509 E. Rice St., Landis, has been living in North Carolina for years but never registered as a sex offender, as he was required to do.
His bond was set at $2,000 Tuesday, and his first appearance in District Court will be Thursday.
In Rockwell, police charged Michael Paul Knoke, 30, of 322 Wilcoy Road with hitting Anthony Cole Strickland, a handicapped person, about the face and in the stomach and kicking Strickland while he was on the ground Tuesday.
Police also charged Knoke with misdemeanor larceny from the Dollar General at 610 W. Main St., Rockwell.
Bond was set at $2,000, and his first appearance in District Court will be Sept. 4.
Salisbury Police charged Michael Tyrell Watkins, 26, of 409 S. Merritt Ave. with felony possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of a firearm by a felon and carrying a concealed weapon (a .38 handgun).
Watkins had previously been convicted in Mecklenburg County of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and was sentenced to 23 to 37 months in prison in December 2005.
His bond was set at $20,000, and his first appearance in District Court will be Thursday.
In China Grove, police charged Dexter Leon Jones, 27, of 320 Lot 18, U.S. 29 South, China Grove, with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine) within 300 feet of a school (China Grove Elementary), possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance and felony possession of a controlled substance.
His bond was set at $50,000, and his first appearance in District Court is Thursday.
