Melba ‘Ma’ PerkinsMURRELLS INLET, S.C. ó Melba “Ma” Triece Perkins, of Murrells Inlet, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at her home.
Born in Rocky Mount, N.C., she was a daughter of the late John Roy and Donier May Triece. She was the former owner and operator of the Hurl Rock Motel and a resident of the Grand Strand since 1972. She was a charter member of TOPS since 1963 and a charter member of the Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Perkins; and a grandson.
She is survived by son David C. Perkins of Murrells Inlet; twin daughters Darlene and Arlene Perkins of Kannapolis; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister Dorothy Massey of Kannapolis.
A funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Whitley’s Funeral Home.
