Zachary Hill, 13, son of Bo and Teresa Miller of China Grove, got his first deer this past season. It wasn’t quite the trophy he was looking for, but the next day he bagged a bigger 8-pointer.
He was hunting with his grandfather, Terry Wyrick, and family friend, Tim Weaver. He used a .20-gauge shotgun with double-ought buckshot.
He killed the first one, a 3-pointer while hunting in Rowan County. He got the bigger one the next day in Richmond County. He also got a doe to give him three deer within a week. His grandfather, on the other hand, said it took him two months to bag three deer.
Zack has been hunting since he was 8, and not just deer but turkey, squirrel and other small game.
He’s having the 8-pointer mounted, “courtesy of Pawpaw Terry.”
