Authorities are looking for a man they believe robbed three General Nutrition Centers in three surrounding counties.
A man pretending to be a customer robbed stores in Rowan, Davidson and Cabarrus counties. The robberies occurred within the span of a few days.
Salisbury police said a black man wearing sunglasses, an olive green jacket and dark blue jeans walked into the GNC at 243 Faith Road on Sunday.
He appeared to be interested in buying some products. When the clerk came from behind the counter to give him a price, the suspect pulled out a handgun. The suspect told the clerk to “put the money in the bag.”
When the clerk nervously fumbled with the register, the suspect told him to hurry up. The suspect came around the counter and stood beside the employee.
The suspect made the clerk go to the bathroom, remove his clothes and wait 10 minutes. The suspect took the employee’s clothes, cell phone and wallet before fleeing.
The robber is described as being in his mid-30s, weighing 190 to 200 pounds and standing about 5-foot-10.
Lexington police say a man also made a GNC sales clerk remove her clothing during a robbery that also happened Sunday.
That man was described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches, 180 pounds, with facial hair and a mustache. He was wearing a green long-sleeved shirt, black hat and sunglasses.
On Friday, a Concord-area GNC was robbed.
