North Rowan band pre-festival concert
The North Rowan High School Band is inviting the community to a pre-festival concert Monday at 7 p.m. in the North High Auditorium.
The concert, though short, will include three selections each by the North Rowan Middle School Band and the North Rowan High School Symphonic Band.
Admission is free, although band officials are asking that everyone attending the concert bring a canned food item for Rowan Helping Ministries. The nonprofit agency operates a food pantry, soup kitchen and overnight shelter, among other programs, and is short on supplies this spring.
The selections being performed will be played at upcoming band festivals: the Symphonic Band, May 16, Sandusky, Ohio, and the Middle School Band, May 30, Carowinds. The high school band will compete with groups from 12 states.
