HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) – High Point City Council has delayed a plan to ban sex offenders from the North Carolina city’s parks.
The council was asked Monday night by the parks and recreation department to approve a ban on offenders. But some council members said they were uncomfortable with the proposal and sent it back for more study.
Neighboring Greensboro already has banned sex offenders from public parks and other North Carolina municipalities have done the same.
Councilman Latimer Alexander said there seemed to be unanswered questions and noted that High Point hasn’t had a problem with offenders.
