Staff report
A natural gas line ruptured and injured one worker Monday afternoon.
One AT&T employee was working in a ditch along Timberwolf Lane in the Plantation Ridge subdivision when the line ruptured and caught fire.
The man sustained minor burn injuries and was treated at the scene.
“It basically singed the hair on his arm,” AT&T Area Manager Charles Workman said. “We feel very fortunate.”
What caused the gas line to rupture is not known. Workman said AT&T would be investigating, as well as the fire department.
Rowan County’s Franklin, Ellis, Woodleaf and Locke fire departments responded, as well as Davie County’s Jerusalem fire department. Rowan Emergency Medical Services also responded.
