More than 2,000 lose power briefly in Rowan, Cabarrus

Duke Power had technicians working on two separate outages Thursday morning that affected more than 2,000 local customers.
The bigger outage cut power to 2,370 Rowan County customers, according to the online listing on www.dukepower.com. When contacted, a spokesman for the Charlotte company said a worker was on the scene working on a piece of equipment that failed and he expected power to be restored by about 11 a.m. Power was reported back on by 11:15 a.m.
Another technician was on the way to an outage affecting 281 customers in Cabarrus County, but the spokesman was unsure of the details of that outage.
