J.C. Price American Legion Post 107, 1433 Old Wilkesboro Road, will host its annual Memorial Week Celebration starting Friday and continuing through June 1.
The week honors those who gave their lives in the service of the nation and has been an annual event at the post for more than 50 years. It has in the past helped the post provide programs for children and youth throughout the year.
The celebration includes nightly entertainment inside the post, gospel singing on May 26 and 27, rides starting May 28 and concession stands operated mainly by churches, fraternal organizations and individuals. Post officials are still seeking vendors to offer food or other services. The fee is $125 for one space and $200 for two spaces.
All food vendors must have approval from the Rowan County Health Department.
Comrade Robert Chunn will coordinate the event, and the post will present a plaque to the Chunn family posthumously honoring Frank Chunn for his services to J.C. Price Post programs, especially youth programs.
The post and the Salisbury Police Department will provide security and the Rowan County Rescue Squad will be on site nightly.
On Sunday, post members will hold memorial services at First Baptist Church, 1311 E. 1st St., Kannapolis, hosted by Comrade James McManus. Services will honor deceased members.
