Many government offices and facilities will close for Thanksgiving.
Here is a schedule of some of the closings:
County
– All Rowan/Kannapolis liquor stores close at 6 p.m. Wednesday, remain closed Thursday and reopen Friday morning.
– Rowan County offices, close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday and reopen Monday.
– Rowan County Landfill, closed Thursday.
– Rowan County Convenience/recycling centers will open at 7 a.m. Wednesday, close at noon and reopen at 7 a.m. Saturday.
– Rowan County Parks all open at regular times. Dan Nicholas Park will be open, but the Nature Center, gem mine, carousel and train are closed Thursday, reopening at 9 a.m. Friday.
– Rowan County Public Library branches close at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Headquarters and south branch reopen Saturday, and east branch reopens Monday.
Municipalities
– Salisbury city offices will close Thursday and Friday.
Garbage and recycling collections in Salisbury will follow their normal schedules during Thanksgiving week.
City buses will not run Thanksgiving Day. Buses will follow a Saturday schedule on Friday and their normal Saturday schedule Saturday.
– China Grove town offices are closed Thursday and Friday.
– Kannapolis city offices will close on Thursday and Friday.
There will be no garbage collection on Thursday. Homes normally collected Thursday will get service on Friday. Those that have Friday pick-ups will receive service Saturday. Collection returns to normal on Dec. 1.
– Spencer’s town offices will close at noon Wednesday for the Holiday Caravan parade and remain closed Thursday and Friday.
Friday garbage collections will not be affected.
Some garbage collections will be affected by the holidays. Garbage routes usually run on Mondays and Tuesdays will be collected Monday, while routes usually run on Wednesdays and Thursdays will be collected Tuesday.
Schools- Rowan-Salisbury schools will close Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Some schools in southern Rowan County will dismiss early Tuesday for the Southern Rowan Christmas Parade.
The following schools will dismiss at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday: Carson and South Rowan high schools and Landis and Knollwood elementary schools.
The following schools will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday: Southeast, China Grove and Corriher-Lipe middle schools and Bostian, China Grove, Enochville and Millbridge elementary schools.
The Rowan-Salisbury School System’s administrative offices will close at 1 p.m. Wednesday and reopen Dec. 1.
– Kannapolis City Schools will close Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The system’s administrative offices will also be closed those days.
