The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who used a concrete parking-lot car stop to break into a local convenience store.
Video from a surveillance camera at Hogan’s Grocery & Grill, 2580 Airport Road, shows the man using the car stop as a battering ram to break the store’s glass door and gain entry.
The incident happened Saturday at 2:40 a.m. Deputies were dispatched to the scene after the store’s alarm sounded.
Investigators found a Marlboro cigarette container at the scene.
“It appears cigarettes were the only things taken,” Rowan County Sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford said.
The surveillance video shows the man breaking the lower portion of the glass door. He runs into the store, jumps the counter and reaches for something.
In a matter of seconds, he leaves the store again.
The man wore a baseball cap and what appeared to be a camouflage T-shirt.
Investigators ask anyone with information to contact the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8700.
