Man charged in shooting that injured child

Corey Mark Kloszewski has been charged in the shooting of 1-year-old boy Tuesday night.
The shooting took place at Kloszewski’s home at 2245 Steele Road, Cleveland.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday night about 9:30, a Jeep Cherokee with five passengers pulled into the driveway at Steele Road. Kloszewski reportedly went outside with a shotgun and fired twice at the Jeep, striking the child
Investigators said the boy suffered an abrasion and flesh wound to his left arm. The report indicates the victims left Steele Road and went to 5485 Chenault Road to wait for assistance from law enforcement and emergency medical services.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to the call from Chenault Road that there had been a disturbance with shots fired.
The 1-year-old was transported to Iredell Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries. He was then released to an uncle pending an investigation by Rowan County Department of Social Services.
Sheriff’s deputies report Kloszewski was in the home with his girlfriend, Crystal Rowland when the Jeep approached the home.
Kloszewski was charged with discharging a firearm into occupied property and was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
