Man charged after stabbing in restaurant parking lot

A Connecticut man was stabbed following a weekend fight at the Cook Out parking lot, and a Salisbury man is charged with assault.
Salisbury police officers responded to a stabbing at the restaurant on East Innes Street at 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
Officers saw a man run across the street soon after they arrived.
They found Howard Lynard Miller, 23, of 207 American Drive, a short time later at the nearby Burger King.
Miller, who had on blood-soaked clothing, claimed to have been “jumped by 30 guys” in the Cook Out parking lot, police reports said.
The victim, Gregory D. Brunson Jr., 23, of 157 Wilmot Road, Hamden, Conn., was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center with internal injuries. He was later transported to Carolinas Medical Center, where he is in fair condition with a punctured lung, the report said.
Miller is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and resisting, obstructing and delaying an officer.
Witnesses told police the men were fighting and Brunson tried to stab Miller, who overtook Brunson.
Miller was released from the Rowan County Detention Center after posting a $50,000 secured bond.
