Lutheran Services for the Aging (LSA) has bought a Clemmons assisted living residence, Elms at Tanglewood.
The not-for-profit healthcare organization hopes to further expand its services in Forsyth County.
LSA President Ted W. Goins Jr. walked a 10-acre tract of land in Clemmons just off I-40, looking for a place to build a 100-bed skilled-care nursing home. He discovered that the adjoining 10-year-old assisted living residence was for sale to the right buyer.
“For many years, the Elms has provided area older adults with a warm, welcoming home and we feel very fortunate to have been chosen to carry on that tradition,” Goins said.
LSA now owns and operates Lutheran HomeńWinston-Salem on Old Walkertown Road. They plan to replace that 217-bed nursing home with two smaller homes. One would be located on the property adjacent to the Elms.
Residents and families have been supportive of the change, according to Goins.
Lutheran Services for the Aging now operates nursing homes in Salisbury, Hickory, Albemarle and Winston-Salem; retirement communities in Salisbury and Arden; and an adult day service program in Salisbury. Elms at Tanglewood will be LSA’s only freestanding, assisted living residence.
