Salisbury’s Holiday Caravan had nothing on the excitement at Lutheran Home on Dec. 19.
The Lutheran Home Social Interaction Team staff headed up the first Lutheran Home Holiday Parade.
Staff, volunteers and family members helped residents decorate wheelchairs, walkers and themselves.
Entries included Mr. and Mrs. Claus, Frosty the Snowman and wife, a decorated Christmas tree, The Snow Queen and her escorts, Charlie Brown and his entourage, The Grinch with Max and Cindy Loo Who and a variety of reindeer, elves and other Christmas characters.
Judges were Debbie Mathis and Mary Anne Johnson, of the Lutheran Services for the Aging home office, and Todd Harris, community liaison from Home Care of the Carolinas.
First place went to Mr. and Mrs. William Chuber and Tina St. Peter as Frosty the Snowman and his wife.
Second place went to Charles Goodman, Willie Jones and Jason Parks with Fleta Corner, Sue Dartnell and Naomi Jones as the Three Wise Men.
Third place went to Don McKay, Cindy Henry and Gracie as The Grinch, Cindy Loo Who and Max.
Fourth place went to the family of Rebecca Davis.
An honorable mention went to David and Maxine Sloop and Candace Hall and Sandra Cross portraying the Peanuts Gang.
Jean Gaston was the grand marshal.
Winning teams received Wal-Mart cards. The parade route went through the entire building and wrapped up in the main activity room for a sing-along.
