Literacy Council tutor training workshop starts Nov. 13

The Rowan County Literacy Council will hold a four-session tutor training workshop starting on Nov. 13, a Thursday, in the Stanback Auditorium of Rowan Public Library.
The first session lasts from 7 to 9 p.m. and will cover the literacy program and the role of volunteer tutors in helping adults to read or learn English as a second language. At the end of this orientation, participants will have the opportunity to sign up for the next three sessions ó Nov. 17 and 20 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and Nov. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The registration fee for these three sessions is $20 to cover the cost of materials. To be certified as a tutor, participants must attend all four sessions.

The Literay Council, a United Way agency, asks those interested to make a reservation by Nov. 10, a Monday.
