library bookmark winners

The 2007 Rowan Public Library Bookmark Contest was a success, with 315 students in three age categories entering. First-, second- and third-place winners were feted at the recognition party held Dec. 3 in the Children’s Room at Rowan Public Library in Salisbury.
The annual contest is held to celebrate Children’s Book Week. First-place winners received $25 gift certificates to the Literary Bookpost, and gift certificates to Chick-fil-A, Wink’s Barbecue and Seafood and Cold Stone Creamery. Their bookmarks will be printed and distributed throughout the library system.
Second- and third-place winners received $15 and $10 gift certificates to the Literary Bookpost and gift certificates to Chick-fil-A.
Winners in the 4- to 6-year-old age group were: Eric Turnbull, first place; Ada Wong, second; and Shawn Chance, third.
Winners in the age 7-9 group were: Angela Haynes, first place; Hailee Buffett, second; and Rachel Young, third.
Winners in the age 10-12 group were: Emily Sherrill, first; Destinee Beavers, second; and Janey Eagle, third .
The Friends of Rowan Public Library made the contest possible.
