A Landis teenager is scheduled for a first-appearance hearing in Rowan County District Court today after being charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, two burglaries and a series of motor vehicle break-ins and larcenies.
Dustin William Hartsell, 17, of 309 N. Moriah St. was arrested on 18 offenses Wednesday and placed under $100,000 secured bond, according to arrest reports. All but one of the offenses are alleged to have occurred Oct. 7 and the other, the following day.
Charges include:
– The Oct. 8 larceny of a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 truck belonging to Robert Alan Thomas. The truck was valued at $7,500.
– Breaking into a Mazda RX8 and a 2005 Cadillac Escalade, both owned by Kim Davis. Larceny of a purse, wallet and currency valued at $980 from Davis’ Mazda and $20 of currency from the Cadillac.
– Breaking into a 2006 Toyota Sienna owned by Debbie Lentz and the larceny of a wallet and currency valued at $530 from the vehicle.
– Breaking into a 2007 Nissan Exterra belonging to Timothy Messinger and the larceny of a cell phone valued at $50 from the vehicle.
– Breaking into a 2006 Volvo belonging to Michael Bauk and the larceny of a $100 cell phone belonging to Timothy Messinger from the vehicle.
– Breaking into a 2008 Toyota Camry owned by Jonathan Post and stealing a set of keys and CD valued at $30.
– A first-degree burglary at the home of Timothy Messinger on Confederate Avenue and the larceny of a Toshiba laptop, computer bag and Russian pen/light set with a combined value of $1,450.
– A first-degree burglary at the home of Thomas Lynch, also on Confederate Avenue, and breaking into Lynch’s 2005 Ford Freestyle with the intent to commit larceny.
– Breaking into a 2003 Chevy Impala owned by William Davis with the intent to commit larceny.
Officer N.T. Sides of the Salisbury Police Department was the arresting officer.
