land-use info sessions

Dates and times for two land use public workshops have been set.
The first will be on Thursday, Feb. 21, at in the West Rowan High School cafeteria from 5 to 8 p.m.
The second will be on Thursday, Feb. 29 at the South Rowan High School cafeteria, also from 5 to 8 p.m.
Members of the Rowan Land Use Steering Committee will be available at the workshops to answer questions and take comments concerning the process.
The workshops are intended to provide the public an opportunity to offer opinions and written comments or suggestions on the study topics affect the area.
The study area is all of the county west of U.S. 29, excluding municipalities and extra-territorial jurisdiction.
The process is focusing on the 10 townships in that area.
The Land Use Steering Committee is working with the planning staff and Benchmark, the Kannapolis-based planning firm.
The committee has looked at extensive data including geography, history, population, economic data, housing, land use, community facilities, natural environment and transportation.
