KANNAPOLIS ó The Kannapolis District Boy Scouts of America held its 2007 Leaders’ Recognition Banquet at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church.
More than 150 Scout volunteers and their families came together to honor their peers. The event also recognized 10 young men for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout during the year.
N.C. representatives Linda Johnson and Fred Steen acknowledged the Eagle Scouts for their hard work.
Brad Steen and Jeff Parker, of Mount Mitchell United Methodist Church Troop 591, received the District Award of Merit.
The District Volunteer of the Year Award went to Jennifer Kerley, a Kannapolis district committee member who has always shown a willingness to serve the Kannapolis District through training the district’s leaders and organizing the monthly Cub Scout Roundtables.
Many Cub and Boy Scout troops were recognized for their participation in council and district events and for maintaining a high standard in rank advancement and community service. The Scout units that excelled in these areas received a Quality Unit Award Recognition. More than 65 percent of the Kannapolis District Scout units were commended.
Many volunteers earned their Veteran’s Service Award for being committed and faithful to the Scout movement.
Sam Falls, Kannapolis District chairman, and M.D. Ford, a longtime Central N.C. Council executive board member, shared master of ceremonies duties.
