Kannapolis police investigators have charged a 22-year-old Kannapolis man with taking indecent liberties with a 12-year-old girl.
Detective Cheryl H. Hearne booked David Avila Garcia, of 704 Baron Ridge Road, into the Rowan County Detention Center at 7 a.m. Wednesday under $100,000 secured bond.
According to a Kannapolis Police Department press release, the department first got information about the alleged crime around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
The 12-year-old victim also lives in Kannapolis, and “the perpetrator is known to the victim,” according to the department.
“This investigation is continuing, and additional charges are possible relating to this incident,” the department press release said.
“Due to the nature of the offense, the age of the victim and the ongoing status of this investigation, no other information is available at this time.”
