KANNAPOLIS ó Two experts from the State Energy Office will teach the final Environmental Stewardship Commission class in Kannapolis on Tuesday.
Larry Shirley and Len Hoey will give a presentation on energy conservation at 7 p.m. in the old Cabarrus Bank building, 201 West Ave.
Shirley, director of the State Energy Office, and Hoey, director of the Utility Savings Initiative, will share simple things individuals can do in the home and office to reduce monthly cooling and heating bills.
“Energy conservation is an important issue, and I’m excited that Larry and Len are joining us for our final ESC class this month,” said Renee Goodnight, the city’s community outreach coordinator.
“The interest from the community for the classes has been outstanding, and I look forward to watching the role of the Environmental Stewardship Commission grow over time,” Goodnight said.
Lowe’s Home Improvement on Dale Earnhardt Boulevard is also supporting the class and will donate 80 compact fluorescent light bulbs to give to those in attendance.
“I am thrilled Lowe’s is joining our efforts,” Goodnight said. “Support from the business community helps us as we work to establish the role of the commission.”
