KANNAPOLIS ó An unoccupied mobile home was severely damaged in a fire Thursday morning.
Firefighters from Kannapolis stations 1, 2, 3 and 4 went to 118 Kennedy Ave. at 6:23 a.m. Thursday and found smoke coming from the mobile home.
Seven pieces of equipment and 22 personnel responded, with help from Landis Fire Department and Enochville Volunteer Fire Department, as well as Odell Volunteer Fire Department and Cabarrus County EMS.
“Our firefighters made entry into the structure and found heavy smoke inside and a small amount of fire in the hallway. As they continued their interior search, the conditions inside deteriorated and the home became entirely engulfed in flames,” said Captain Justin Hahn.
“Thanks to our monthly training drills and the skills of our firefighters, there were no reports of injuries to fire department personnel,” said Rick Barnhardt, division chief of personnel development.
The residence suffered significant damage due to the fire. Estimated loss is $60,000. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of this fire.
