Kannapolis ó The Kannapolis Rotary Club is providing an electrocardiograph machine to a Rotary Club in St. Kitts to help supply equipment to a medical clinic on the island. CMC-NorthEast donated the used machine to the Kannapolis Rotary Club.
“We are excited to be able to help a fellow Rotary Club as it works through a project in its local area,” said Lorna Felts, president, Kannapolis Rotary Club. “Rotary International emphasizes working with clubs in other countries, and this is another example of the Kannapolis club meeting that call.”
Amerijet has agreed to deliver the EKG machine to St. Kitts for the Kannapolis Rotary Club free of normal shipping charges.
“The EKG machine will be used in a Government Clinic providing free medical attention to diabetics,” said Leah Sahely, president, Rotary Club of St. Kitts. “Physicians have recommended that every diabetic should have an EKG done regularly, but presently this medical technology ó readily common in the U.S. ó is not available. The machine will be used to fill this need.”
“CMC-NorthEast is pleased to partner in this most worthy international project, which will help deserving patients on the island of St. Kitts,” says Gayle Deal, executive director of business and community relations at the hospital. “The positive impact this new medical capability will afford patients in St. Kitts reflects well on the international relationships gained and fostered through the Rotary Club.”
St. Kitts is located in the Leeward Islands about 200 miles east of Puerto Rico. It is also the favorite vacation spot of the Kannapolis Rotary Club public relations chair, who will be making another visit in June.
