HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (AP) _ A judge is considering whether an autopsy report should be made public for slain University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student body president Eve Carson.

A hearing is scheduled Wednesday before Orange County Superior Court Judge Allen Baddour. A hearing for one of the suspects in Carson’s death, 21-year-old Demario Atwater, also is expected.

The judge said last month he wanted more time to consider a news media request to release the autopsy report. Attorneys for The News & Observer of Raleigh have argued the report is a public record and should be open to review.

Atwater and 17-year-old Laurence Lovette have been charged with first-degree murder in Carson’s death. Her body was found in a residential street March 5 in Chapel Hill about a mile from campus.
