Staff report
A two-vehicle wreck Saturday night at East Innes Street and Newsome Road sent three people to Rowan Regional Medical Center with injuries.
Salisbury Police reported that a van driven by Joseph Torrence of Rockwell was headed east toward Granite Quarry when a Nissan Sentra driven by Ruth Dieguez of Highland Creek Drive, Salisbury, pulled left into the van’s path.
The Sentra was turning into the Pancho Villas restaurant, the report said.
Jessica Torrence, a front-seat passenger in the van, suffered injuries, as did Ruth and Orlando Dieguez, who were in the Sentra.
It took emergency and rescue personnel some time to free Orlando Dieguez from his wrecked car, and he appeared to be the most seriously hurt, with a cut to the back of his head.
One of the injured women said she had chest pain and difficulty breathing. The other women suffered lower abdominal and hip pain.
The accident occurred about 7 p.m. Charges are pending against Ruth Dieguez, who recently moved here from Florida.
