Staff report
Two people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries after a three-vehicle collision on East Innes Street at Interstate 85 on Thursday afternoon.
According to Salisbury Police, Susan Ketner was driving a gray Lexus and had stopped at a red light when a car driven by Hattie Mack Mackey rear-ended her about 1 p.m.
A third car driven by Mary Rankin hit Mackey from behind.
Mackey’s vehicle, a black Saturn, overturned.
Salisbury’s Lt. Melonie Thompson said Rankin’s vehicle did what they called an under ride, when one vehicle’s front bumper goes underneath another’s rear bumper.
Both Mackey and Rankin will be cited for failure to reduce speed.
They both had minor injuries.
Traffic coming off the interstate was detoured, and Innes Street was blocked near Arlington Street.
No other information was available.
Salisbury Police, Salisbury Fire and Rowan County Rescue Squad responded to the accident.
