Homeownership Initiative
A National Homeownership Initiative will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at Park Avenue Center at the corner of Park Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue North.
The free event is sponsored by the Social Action Committee of the Salisbury Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
The purpose is to educate and inform the community about the home ownership process and to change rent payments to mortgage payments. It is also designed to help those who have lost their jobs and are facing home foreclosure.
Presenters will include Coleman Emerson, director of Habitat for Humanity in Salisbury; Louise Mack, director of Prosperity Unlimited in Kannapolis; Chanaka Yatawara, director of Salisbury Community Development; and a representative from Community One Bank.
