LANDIS ó Frances Linn died Wednesday at Carolinas Medical Center from injuries after a traffic accident in Hickory on Saturday.
Her husband, prominent businessman D.C. Linn, 82, died immediately after the accident.
The Catawba County Highway Patrol confirmed Frances Linn’s death Wednesday morning.
She and her husband were in Hickory on Saturday visiting friends.
According to a wreck report filed by Trooper R.E. Rudisill, Frances Linn was driving the couple’s 1999 Mazda. She and her husband were the only people in the vehicle.
She pulled into the path of an oncoming car while attempting to turn left into a parking lot at a traffic signal, the Highway Patrol reported.
Both vehicles had green lights. Since the Linns were turning left, their vehicle should have yielded to oncoming traffic.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 1987 Isuzu sport-utility vehicle, slowed down. The SUV’s driver, Jason D. Carpenter, 28, of Claremont, could not stop in time.
Carpenter was not speeding.
The owner of the SUV, Jerry Caulder, 57, of Conover, was a passenger.
Both suffered minor injuries, Rudisill said, and did not have to be taken to the hospital.
Frances Linn was 79.
