Fundraiser for fallen firefightersA fundraiser to honor firefighters who lost their lives in Rowan and Cabarrus counties this year will be held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Rockwell Rural Fire Department.
The event is being sponsored by the 28th Masonic District of N.C. Masons, Keller Memorial Lodge 657; Rockwell Chapter 317 Order of the Eastern Star; Rockwell City, Rockwell Rural, Granite Quarry, Gold Hill, Bostian Heights and Union fire departments; and Shriners Hillbillies.
All proceeds will go to the Shriner’s Hospital Children’s Burn Center in honor of these fallen heroes.
Hamburgers and hot dogs will be sold, with one free hot dog to each child 5 and under.
Tickets at $5 each or five for $20 can be purchased for prizes, which include the grand prize, a used car from Ben Mynatt Chevrolet Cadillac; first prize, a 50-inch HDTV; second prize, a gas grill from Lowe’s; third prize, six rolls of residential gold coins; and other items.
