Food Lion promotes Herndon to chief financial officer

Food Lion has promoted Carol Herndon to chief financial officer and chief administrative officer.
Herndon will continue to have senior leadership responsibility for all accounting and analysis, as well as information technology. In addition, she will now be accountable for corporate development, which includes real estate, store development, mergers and acquisitions, construction, maintenance, equipment procurement and energy management.
Herndon’s career at Food Lion began when she joined the organization as a financial controller in 1989. She has also served as corporate controller, director of accounting and vice president of information technology. Most recently, she served as executive vice president of accounting and analysis and information technology for Food Lion and chief accounting officer for Delhaize America, Inc., Food Lion’s parent company. She and Cathy Green, Food Lion’s chief operating officer, report directly to President and CEO Rick Anicetti.
Before joining Food Lion, Herndon was a manager with Ernst & Young in Winston-Salem.
Herndon holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a certified public accountant. She and her husband, Mike, live in Salisbury with their two children, Carson, 15, and Bailey, 9. Herndon is the daughter of Kaye McCraw of High Point and the late Walt McCraw.
