The Salisbury Fire Department’s stations will serve as collection sites for donations supporting a local family which lost everything in a North Lee Street home fire about two weeks ago.
The family has relocated to another house and has been in contact with the local chapter of the American Red Cross. The fire station collection sites will offer citizens the opportunity to support this family in need during the holiday season.
The family needs the following items:
– A washer and dryer.
– Two bedroom suites.
– Bed linens and blankets.
– Basic kitchen goods including plates, glasses, utensils, cookware, bakeware, dish cloths, potholders and dish towels.
– Bath towels, hand towels, bath mats and washcloths.
– Shoes for family members: ladies, size 8.5-9; adult (younger) man, size 15; and junior girls (teen), size 7-7.5.
– Holiday decorations and gifts.
The need for clothing has been met. The family is using kerosene heaters and is in need of financial support for “turning on the heat” at its new residence and for purchasing basic food and pantry items.
In addition, a donation of electrical work is needed to wire the front three rooms of the family’s new location.
Citizens are being encouraged to drop off donations at the following Salisbury Fire Department locations: Station 1, 514 E. Innes Street; Station 2, 2312 S. Main St.; Station 3, 1604 W. Innes St.; and Station 4, 2325 Statesville Blvd.
